TR104: CRASHKIT: A LOW-COST 4 IN 1 PHYSICS LEARNING KIT

CHIN KHAI XIAN UNIVERSITI PENDIDIKAN SULTAN IDRIS

This study aims to develop a learning kit for Mechanics and Applied Physics subjects namely ‘CrashKit’. Students were found facing difficulties related to physics concepts in daily life applications. Hence, the researcher proposed to develop a learning kit which emphasize student-centred learning to enable students to explore and relate physics concepts in driving cars via the kit. The kit was constructed using ADDIE model and data were collected from UPSI’s students which were selected purposely as the research samples. This study utilized expert validity form and the USE questionnaire which had validated by two Physics experts. Result findings show high reliability level with Alpha Cronbach value of 0.968 and good expert validity with 100% for face of CrashKit, 90% for content of CrashKit, 100% for face of instrument for CrashKit and 92.5% for content of instrument for CrashKit. The usability perception of the kit shows high mean value with low standard deviation. Therefore, this developed CrashKit can serve as a learning kit for students. In conclusion, CrashKit can be effectively used in the context of Physics teaching by applying Physics concepts in daily life. Further study can be conducted to implement the CrashKit in secondary education in the future.
