YG68: Research And Development Of Thai Herbal Spray Formulation To Reduce Antibiotic Dependence In Treatment Of Oral Ulcers

Nathamon Pholuang Charter International School Bangkok

This project uses nanotechnology to incorporate the extract of Quercus Infectoria to introduce a formulation of an innovative nano-herbal spray gel. By implementing chitosan nanoparticles to act as a carrier system and encapsulate the active herbal compounds, this is where the novelty lies, enabling stability to be enhanced, prolongs release, and allows targeted therapeutic action directly at the site of application. In contrary of conventional oral treatments, this formulation avoids antibiotics and chemical agents, thereby minimizing side effects and reducing risks of antimicrobial resistance. It is particularly suited for patients suffering from oral mucositis and ulcerations induced by chemotherapy or surgery, especially cancer patients, and general individuals with oral ulcers by providing pain relief, anti-inflammatory action, and oral tissue regeneration.
