The Smart Extension Plug (SMEP) is an IoT-based device developed to optimize electricity usage at Kolej Vokasional Shah Alam. Controlled through the Blynk mobile app, SMEP allows remote operation, real-time monitoring of voltage and current also scheduled automation. Compared with past smart plug prototypes, SMEP applies the Agile model, progressing through planning, analysis, design, development, testing and feedback. A survey of 36 respondents showed SMEP improved efficiency by 72%. It reduces energy waste, improves safety, and builds awareness of electricity use. With potential for wider adoption, SMEP supports smarter, sustainable energy management and future IoT integration.
